The Vaud wine region has an extraordinarily varied geology. Although our white wines are primarily made from Chasselas, we also grow an undisclosed amount of other grape varieties both to broaden our knowledge of viticulture and oenology, and include some specialities in the range of wines we offer.

Chas
selas

Chasselas traces its origins to the banks of Lake Geneva and is the classic grape variety for the Vaud region. Its finesse and purity showcase our different terroirs, hence its multiple expressions, which range from fruity and floral to mineral.

Pinot
Gris

A key characteristic of the Pinot Gris grape variety is the high sugar content of its must, which produces a wine that is creamy and intense, and often full- bodied and aromatic. It can be used for both dry and dessert wines.

Mu

According to ampelographers (vine identification experts), Muscat Blanc is of Greek origin: it was the first to gain a foothold on the Mediterranean coast and establish itself in France.

It produces dry, naturally sweet, and sparkling wines. Muscat has a low yield, can deliver a high sugar content and offers balanced acidity with intense flavour.

Pinot
Noir

Pinot Noir is a remarkable grape variety that produces high-quality red wines that combine finesse, elegance and silky tannins. Its qualities also make it an ideal candidate for the still or sparkling white wine made from dark-skinned grapes known as blanc de noirs.

Ga

ret

This variety was bred in 1970 at Changins from Gamay and Reichensteiner.

This is a powerful grape variety that offers excellent resistance to grey rot.

Gamaret produces brightly coloured and well structured red wines that are well-suited to ageing. It offers a decent balance of alcohol and acidity. Gamaret's characteristics make it particularly suitable for blending with Pinot Noir, Gamay and Garanoir.

Hum

Humagne Rouge delivers structured red wines with a pleasant dark ruby hue. Château de Glérolles is the only producer in Lavaux and the entire canton of Vaud to offer this grape variety, which is usually grown in the Aosta Valley and in the Valais region.

Gara
noir

Garanoir is a widely used grape variety in Switzerland. It was originally called Gastar, then Granoir and finally Garanoir. It is considered part of the Gamaret family because it was also bred from Gamay and Reichensteiner. 

It produces a brightly coloured and supple wine. Its bouquet is complex with pronounced fruit and spice notes. When grown in climates that are too hot, Garanoir can display an imbalance of alcohol and acidity.

It is used in blends to offer suppleness and vigour.

Mer
lot

Merlot produces rounded, intense and opulent wines with a deep garnet hue. It is capable of being matured in the barrel to produce full-bodied and structured crus with smooth tannins and ages well.
